Living with cancer/Cancer et Espoir is a french support group from the Canadian Cancer Society. Its main goal is to offer support to people who have become afflicted with cancer, as well as their family and friends. Education is also an important aspect of the support group.
Via conferences, pamphlets, books, videos, and audio cassettes, we keep our members, as well as the general public, up to date on the numerous types of cancer, as well as new treatments and developments in the field of cancer research. Members of the french community are invited to some of our conferences which are of public interest. The support group is also used to provide french-language support to the government and the Region 3 Hospital Corporation for cancer patients and their families. The coordinator of the support group can inform you about the existing services at Region 3 Hospitals and also at the Canadian Cancer Society.
The group also offers some support to fundraising campaigns, such as the "Arbre de l'Espoir" (Tree of Hope) campaign. For more information on cancer or on the support group Living with cancer/Cancer et Espoir, please feel free to contact the coordinator of the group, Suzanne Bourassa RNBN, M.Ed., at 450-9703, or stop by one of the meetings. Our meetings are at the Centre communautaire Sainte-Anne on the 3rd Wednesday of every second month (excluding the summer months). This is a free and confidential service.
